Avenue Q is the hilarious hit musical about a circle of disgruntled twenty- and thirty-something year old friends living in the same building on Avenue Q, New York while looking for purpose in their lives. Inspired by the classic television show, Sesame Street, the characters include a cast of muppet parodies, like Trekkie Monster (think Cookie Monster, but with Star Trek). You can't help but laugh at these self-pitying, unemployed whiners when they sing such songs as "The Internet is for Porn" and "It Sucks to be Me".
From the minds of Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, and directed by Jason Moore, Avenue Q has been a smash hit since it arrived in London three years ago, taking the title of Musical of the Year since. It should be noted that due to the lewd and adult nature of the play, Avenue Q is primarily intended for adult and mature audiences; expect such topics as homosexuality, racism, and pornography.
