Chiado

Chiado is the most expensive area in Lisbon, in Chiado Square you are in the heart of Lisbon. From some places and streets you can see the river Tejo and enjoy the romantic environment of the capital of Portugal "Lisbon!" After that you should definitely make a stop and take a rest in “A Brasileira” coffee in Rua Garret, this traditional coffee is famous because of Fernando Pessoa one of the great Portuguese writers and poets. Fernando Pessoa use to go get this coffee and because of this there is a bronze statue in front of this typical place. Now a days “A Brasilieira” is still a meeting point of Portuguese artists and intellectuals.

Also in Rua Garret you can go shopping to Armazéns do Chiado, a historical trade place that burnt down in 1988 and was completely rebuilt to hold down the frontispiece.


Baixa

Visit the Estacao de rossio, LisbonThe down town of Lisbon is Baixa which start in Comércio Square or Terreiro do Paço. Terreiro do Paço is just in front of the river Tejo where you can see in the middle a Baroque Arch built at the 19th century, from this arch starts Rua Augusta, one of the most busy streets in Lisbon. At Avenida da Liberdade you can have a nice shopping day - a place where you find everything you want but unfortunately are the prices vary.

Then you have Estação do Rossio, this is a rail station where you can travel by train to this gorgeous city, that is Sintra and visit some of the world heritage places that this city has to offer. In Rossio you will find amazing monuments, even the rail station is one building constructed in the 19th century with a great frontispiece of neo-manuel style in which you can find historical monuments.


Alfama

Alfama is a historic distric of Lisbon. Alfama is a historical district of Lisbon with some beautiful see sights that you definitely should see. Built around the 12th century Alfama still have several historical buildings that survived from the earthquake of 1755. On the top of the hill you can see São Jorge Castle that was built at the Romans and visigoths period. In Alfama you also can see the great Cathedral of Lisbon that was built in the 12th century.

Alfama has a historical environment, it is a picturesque area with close streets, old shops, good restaurants and places to listen the typical Portuguese music Fado.


Bairro Alto

Bairro Alto is a must-see district of Lisbon! Bairro Alto is the place where Portuguese artists, stylist and designers are living. There you can find many restaurants and the typical houses of Fado.

Bairro Alto is the perfect place to see the sunset, you just have to go to one of the great viewpoints of Lisbon Miradouro de Santa Catarina. Bairro Alto is the perfect place to have a drink and dinner in many restaurants and bars in there.

If you rise a bit more you can visit the botanical garden of Principe real, it is a garden with plants and trees from all around the world. This garden was founded in 1874 and is a very nice in Lisbon to visit.


Parque das Nações

The West side and a new part of Lisbon Parque das Nações. This modern and interesting area was used to expand Lisbon as a cultural, professional and trading area. Also by the river you can see the huge bridge of Vasco da Gama with a 17 Km’s way.

Some buildings are being used after Expo’98 for many others utilities as Casino Lisboa which was during the Expo’98 the Future Pavilion.

Parque das Nações is also perfect for who wants to make some outdoor sport such as jogging, cycling or just to take a walk by the river Tejo.


Belém

The famous pasteis de belemAnother amazing area of Lisbon which has two great world heritages, Monastery of Jerónimos and the Belém Tower, those historical monuments are located by the river Tejo in Lisbon, Portugal.

In Belém is the official residence of the Republic President CCB - Centro Cultural de Belém - where almost everyday several musical events, theatre events etc... At this cultural centre CCB you also have the Design Museum and other art galleries with temporary and a permanent exhibitions. After your visit at these attractions ni Lisbon you can take a break and eat the delicious- special cake Pasteis de Belém at the Pastéis de Belém pastry of Lisbon!
