Sunset Boulevard - The Ultimate Hollywood Story

London Press Review News Andrew Lloyd Webber's production of “Sunset Boulevard” is one of the most glamorous and dramatic London West End Theatre Musicals of all time based on Billy Wilder’s 1950 Oscar-winning film. The London musical is about the rich and (ex)famous Norma Desmond who falls in love with the young screenwriter Joe, whom is still very loved by the public.

Norma cannot believe that her day as the world’s most famous star had past. She writes a script for her ‘return’ (she refuses to say ‘comeback’) and asks Joe, a young scriptwriter to help her. As she offers him lots of money, he agrees with her offer and starts to work for her. He regrets his decision when the ex-super star falls in love with him and brings drama to their unique situation.

London Press Review News “Sunset Boulevard’s” stage setting and decor is very impressive with the palm trees standing in front of the picture of the famous Norma Desmond in her younger years. The stage makes the audience feel as though they are a part of that glamourous Hollywood atmosphere. The moving spiral staircase makes the play’s story diverge into different scenes and also very surprising.

With a small cast of only 12 people, the cast of “Sunset Boulevard” creates a very nice atmosphere and a spectacular performance.

London Press Review News The singing was very impressive especially the songs: ‘Just One Look’, ‘As If We Never Said Goodbye’, ‘The Greatest Star of All,’ and of course ‘Sunset Boulevard.’ Kathryn Evans is phenomenal in her role as Norma Desmond. Her voice is absolutely stunning. She received the loudest applause with her interpretation of ‘Just One Look.’

But not only Kathryn is a marvellous singer. Dave Willetts as Max and Ben Goddard as Joe charmed the audience with their delightful voices.

“Sunset Boulevard” is the best classic Hollywood musical of all time. Make sure you don’t miss the masterpiece of “Sunset Boulevard” as it makes its way to the famous London West End.
