Set in Kensington Gardens in the Royal Borough Of Kensington, Kensington Palace, one of London's most famous palaces, was William III and Mary II’s principal (though not official) residence when in London. Although the Kensington Palace was originally a Jacobean manor house, Sir Christopher Wren designed much of its current architecture.
Kensington Palace was built in the early 17th-century to be a Nottingham House for the Earl of Nottingham. Since then Kensington Palace was the favored residence of British monarchs and in 1981 Kensington Palace was enlarged to provide the newly married couple Prince and Princess of Wales, Diana and William as venue of recovery and the Kensington Palace remained the official residence of Princess Diana after her divorce until her death.
Visitors to Kensington Palace can experience an age of elegance in the State Apartments with displays of royal court and ceremonial dress at this most fashionable Royal address, as well as strolling round the pleasant gardens here.
And if all the London sightseeing is wearing you out why not pay a visit to the Orangery Restaurant at Kensington Palace, which has one of the finest tea selections in London, a wonderful terrace - and 20% off for London Pass holders.
