European Artistic Gymnastic Championship

From March 31st to April 5th, 2009, finally Milan will host the European Artistic Gymnastic Championship, after the last Italian edition dating back to Rome in 1981. An event of great importance that will lead to Milan over 400 federations and over 300 athletes, not to mention journalists, fans and tourists who will crowd Milan that week. A lot of delegations, such as the Beijing one, will hasten to Milan to study the athletes and the new code of points.
The quality of the competition is very high, just think back to the 10 Olympic medals in Beijing that will challenge one against the other. A huge success for Milan but also for the region of Lombardy, satisfied by the fact that a high percentage of Italian athletes come just from Lombardy.
The event will be held in Assago Forum and will be officially presented on March 25th at 12.00 am in the Pirelli Room. The tickets are very cheap to allow all fans to follow this event, and the competitions are also broadcast on state television.

U2 Concert San Siro

On July 7th Milan and in particular San Siro will host the fantastic concert of U2, in the second date of their 306° tour, after their debut in Barcelona at Nou CampStadium. Throughout the summer they will travel with their tour to the major European cities such as Paris, Nice, Berlin, London, Glasgow and Cardiff to arrive in America in early September with their first date in Chicago, September 12th. Their last album, "No line on the Horizon", the twelfth of the band, is at number one in the European charts with its amazing songs and the wonderful voice of Bono Vox. A peculiarity of this tour will be the structure of the stage that will allow the public a 360° vision. The cost of tickets is for the 85% less than 95 Euro, to allow all their fans to follow them. Tickets are on sale from March Friday 13th. Now some information about U2: born in 1978, the four teenagers initially called themselves Feedback with Bono on vocals, The Edge on guitar, Adam and Larry on bass and drum. They became The Hype and then the U2, building a reputation based on the passion of their performances. U2 firs single was released in May 1980.

Expo 2015

The Expo 2015 will be hosted by the city of Milan and the theme proposed is Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life and includes everything that relates to the feeding and would cover topics such as the lack of food in the world, obesity and feeding education. The first Universal Exposition was to be in Paris in 1889, when the Eiffel Tower was built for the occasion, but was never dismantled as required by the project. Milan had already hosted the Expo in 1906 with the transport theme and was a great success: the estimate for 2015 universal Exposition expect a turnout of 29 million visitors in 6 months of exposure, the creation of 70,000 new jobs places, 7.000 events and 20 billion Euros for the construction and re-qualification of infrastructures. The event will be located in the new district of Milan Fair Rho-Pero, with its 1.1 million m²: the participating countries at the moment are 120, China was the first to make official its presence in 2001. The objectives of this exhibition are several but the most important are the improvement of food quality and safety to cope with malnutrition, world hunger, the prevention of social diseases such as obesity, the development of research and technology, the education for a proper diet and the preservation of the bio-diversity and environment respect.

Milan City Life

City life is the name of the network of companies that won the international tender for the redevelopment of the historic fair area of Milan, after the creation of the new exhibition area Rho Pero. The offer has reached 523 million Euro 's and foresees the creation of a functional,modern and integrated area structured in large public spaces, residential buildings, a green area of 160,000 m², 5 km of bicycle paths and the Museum of Design. The only building that will not be dismantled is the indoor sports arena which will become the Palazzo delle Scintille, a cultural centre for children and elderly people.
The project was conceived by Arate Isozom, Daniel Libeskind, Zaha Hadid and Pier Paolo Maggiora, and provides the construction of 3 amazing skyscrapers: The Straight, which will become the highest in Italy with its 220 meters and 50 floors, The Twisted and The Curved. The project began in 2007 and it will be completed in 2015.

Milan fashion district

A city of fashion from 680 million Euro will rise in Milan at the end of 2009, a meeting place for fashion and design. The architect Cesar Pelli has build this project: this fashion district will arise in Garibaldi-Repubblica are, around a round square, built between the entrance of Como street and of Garibaldi station. Around this main square will rise buildings constructed with steel and glass, the highest of which should be nearly 150 meter. Near the square there will be a Museum of fashion and a park of 108 thousand m², The Trees Library: the park will be organized around a network of paths through a real library of plants, herbs and flowers and in the project there is also a museum of insects. The area will be organized in to 15,000 m² of residential area, 50,485 m² for tertiary , 10,000 m² for commercial (with shop and store), 15000 m² with accommodations, 20000 m² for the Fashion Museum for a total of more than 110,000 m². This project will provide to Milan a cheaper fashion area that does not scare the high fashion designers.
