6.000 security cameras in Rome
The city of Rome is planning a new safety project. Six thousand “eyes” on the streets of Rome will ensure the security of Roman citizens and tourists from around the world.
This project is called “Rome Sure City”, it was proposed by mayor Giovanni Alemanno this February and it is part of a bigger project for the security of Rome. It will involve an investment of over 600 million euros, spread over five years.
These cameras will have the latest technology, in particular it will be use high quality Fiber optic cables that will allow the transmission of a large quantity of data. Thanks to this it will be possible to install high definitions cameras, all equiped with microphones. These cameras will not be located just on the streets but also:
In high risk suburbs
On the public transport
In banks
In shops
In stadiums
In underground stations
In public parks and gardens
In museums
Next to these 6.000 cameras there will also be multiple "Smart street lamps" in Rome. These "Smart street lamps" will have sensors that detect the presence of weapons and can also display advice for public utilities.
All this data will be connected to one videosurveillance central, managed by the Roman police.
Regional funding for hotels and hostels
Claudio Mancini made a proposal to give, which has been accepted , more resources to the Lazio's regional “Unic Fund” for tourism.
This is one of the projects that will improve the facilities, in particular for the mountain areas in Lazio. This way they will be able to host more tourists and save money.
The region gave 5.5 million Euros to some municipalities in Rome. In fact the Lazio Apennines are a very beautiful zone, with a lot of nature and breathtaking landscapes. So by having this project, this area could become one of the best tourist areas in the whole of Italy. The “Lazio Development” group wants to do four actions:
3 millions Euros to restructure the already existent structure
700.000 Euro for energy saving and sustainable tourism;
1,5 millions Euros for a new structure or enhancement of the existing one
300.000 Euro for a new information system.
Rome redevelopment plan (DPF)
The city of Rome has a plan to redevelop the city center. Some of the areas where the city will make an intervention are:
Restoration of public transport and surfaces damaged by graffiti

Restructuring historic villas
Renew most of the street lighting;
