Stonehenge, Windsor and Oxford – must-see English tourist destinations.

This tour gives people the excellent opportunity to see three famous English tourist destinations in a England day trip tour. A comfortable coach takes tourists to the royal Windsor Castle and Runnymede, then to the ancient Stonehenge and lastly the coach takes tourists to the quaint town of Oxford. In my opinion, this tour is one of the best tours available for tourists wanting to see three historic English places outside London.

The coach first takes tourists on what turns out to be a very pleasant drive through some stunning green English countryside until it reaches the beautiful Runnymede. At Runnymede the tour allows tourists to visit England’s most historic castle – Windsor Castle. Although it takes a long time to have a proper look around this castle, the tour still gives tourists sufficient time to take in the most interesting parts of the castle. Tourists have access to the famous state apartments where many royal celebrities used to stay – something which anyone intrigued by the monarchy’s way of living would most certainly be thrilled to see. After seeing the state apartments, tourists may take a look around St George’s Chapel, which is the monarch’s unique place of worship. St George’s Chapel is also the place where most of the previous English monarchs’ funerals and burials took place and it is expected that Queen Elizabeth II will be buried here one day.

Following this, tourists can hop back on the coach for a smooth coach ride over to one of the most ancient monuments in the entire world – Stonehenge. It is evident that Stonehenge is one of those sights that tourists visiting England should see for its history is fascinating. Dating back nearly 5000years, Stonehenge is an old pagan worshipping place where people used to gather and carry out bizarre rituals. Although security does not allow visitors up close to this ancient monument, it is still possible to see the old stones quite easily and to take some excellent photos. Any decent day tour of England should really include a Stonehenge visit and its inclusion here makes this tour highly recommendable.

The last visit of the tour to Oxford is a very interesting part of this English day tour. This delightful English town is home to one of the world’s top universities – Oxford University – where lots of intellectuals and famous people resided and studies like Stephen Hawkin, Margaret Thatcher, Bill Clinton,T.E. Lawrence and Sir Walter Raleigh. Tourists have the great opportunity to just take off around Oxford and the tour really allows you plenty of time to soak up some of the culture of this beautiful place.

It must be said that this tour’s climax for me has to be the yummy cream tea in an excellent Oxford tea house. After having taken in so many sights, cream tea is very welcome and the cream tea here is very traditional served with scones, jam, clotted cream washed down with authentically prepared tea.
